The Modern Women’s Foundation is Taiwan’s first women’s protection center, supporting over 7,000 families affected by domestic violence every year. Even with tax exemption, many families in slums and rural areas still cannot afford menstrual products. Mothers face a dilemma: feeding their families or buying menstrual products. Girls also have to make tough choices: risking their health by sharing the same sanitary pad with peers to attend school or staying home and missing school during their period.
